We know that it is important for our little ones to not only look great, but also feel comfortable too. No more so, then when it comes to choosing shoes.
Shoes, particularly in those early stages of walking, offer support to the feet and protect them against being damaged or injured. So, with this in mind, we have put together some of the things that you need to keep in mind when it comes to picking your tots first pair of shoes.
Head to a shoe shop
For adults, choosing shoes is simply a case of finding ones that you like and making sure that they fit you okay. It isn’t quite as easy for kids to say whether or not something is comfy. Therefore, it makes sense that you head to a professional, especially in the early days, to make sure that the shoes that you pick are suitable. Some of the high street shoe stores offer professional shoe fitters to make sure that all the parts of the shoe fit properly.
Have their feet regularly measured
One thing that parents soon realise is that kids really grow, especially between the ages of 1 and 3. This includes their feet. You need to bare this in mind when buying shoes, not that you should size up, but be prepared that their feet are measured every 2 months, so that their shoes will fit properly.
Try to pick a sensible style
There are a number of cute shoes out there for your little one, but when it comes to everyday wear, it is important that you pick the right shoe. Slip on ballet pumps look adorable, and are perfect for when they won’t be walking around too much. But if you have a fun filled day of activities, its best to pick a pair of shoes with a solid grip with a good sole, a pair of boots are ideal.
Keep an eye on their feet
Once you have picked out shoes for your little one, then you still need to keep an eye on them. Check for any pressure marks on the toes and below the ankle bone as well as any marks on the back of the heel. All of these things, as well as inflamed nails will be a sign that the shoes may not be fitting properly anymore, and will need replacing as soon as possible.
The thing to remember when it comes to kids shoes, is that they should be comfortable for them to wear. If they are cute too, then this is just a great bonus.
Don’t forget, if you want to make sure they look awesome, why not check out the amazing clothes and shoes that we have here at Be Belle Boutique, you may just find something that makes your little one look all the cuter!
